“Window of Opportunity”

The position and height of the windows in my room makes it difficult to get natural light to my desk. I often have to reorient myself throughout the day in order to maximize the amount of light falling on my working space. For this project, I decided to modify the window closest to my desk so that it intentionally lets through less light. This conscious choice makes for an interesting sculpture because it directly counters my usual efforts. The fibrous variations in the paper used mimic the constant push-pull between me and the light from my windows. The paper itself is yellowed from exposure to sunlight, and has thereby already captured that which I still struggle to obtain.
